The 'Lawrence tree' that painter Georgia O'Keeffe made at Kiowa ranch, in the mountains near Taos, New Mexico. The British novelist D.H. Lawrence had lived here some time before her. He had a bench under this tree (in the 1920's) on which one could lie down and look upwards and see this. The tree and bench are still there. |
